Businesses that display this decal try to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities.
To display this decals, the business has passed a basic test of accessibility.  The decal does not indicate that all aspects of a business meet ADA guidelines or that all types and severity of disabilities are accommodated.  Individuals with disabilities have the ultimate responsibility to determine their ability to visit these businesses.

 

Access Anacortes has two objectives:

  1. To help businesses understand the issues people with disabilities have in visiting their businesses and offer possible solutions.  The Business Resource Center is dedicated this purpose.

  2. To help improve the quality of life for people with disabilities by identifying accessible businesses that they can visit.  Businesses displaying the Access Anacortes decal can be found in the Local Businesses & Services section of the Barrier Busters website.

Alternatives to Barrier Removal

Businesses may not be able to physically remove all barriers.  In those cases, businesses are encouraged to offer services that will still permit people with disabilities to enjoy the products or services offered by the business. These services are documented in a program called Shared Expectations.
